Performance Coach/ Certified Athletic Trainer

Somer received his Bachelor’s in Athletic Training from the University of Vermont in May 2021. During his time at UVM, Somer spent clinical rotations with the Men’s and Women’s Ice Hockey, Men’s Lacrosse, Women’s Field Hockey, and South Burlington High School. As an Athletic Training Student, Somer was recognized with the “Rookie of the Year”  award as a sophomore and for the “Leadership in Athletic Training” award as a senior. Somer represented UVM’s Athletic Training program on multiple national committee’s, including the National Athletic Training Association District 1 Ambassador Committee.

After graduating from UVM, Somer began a four month stint as a full time AT for Saint Michael’s College, where he provided the primary care for Women’s Volleyball, Swim and Dive, Men’s Tennis, Men’s Cross Country, and Men’s and Women’s Rugby. Through Vasta, Somer is now the head Athletic Trainer for Champlain Valley Union High School and the Vermont Lake Monsters.

Outside of Athletic and Sports Performance Training, Somer captained the UVM Club Football team for four years, and spent an all-star semi pro season with the Vermont Raven’s. He was a state champion pole vaulter in high school at CVU, is an avid snowboarder and former competitive rock climber.
